Eight crewmen from the Coast Guard cutter Thetis volunteered at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden early Wednesday morning, Nov. 30th to help with garden maintenance. They worked with the several of the Garden’s regular volunteers mulching, weeding, and trimming. They bravely worked around the native Poisonwood tree enlarging the border around the tree so visitors do not come into contact with the leaves and branches. With no paid maintenance staff, the not-for-profit organization is most grateful when groups of volunteers like the Coast Guard help in maintaining the 15-acre site.

Volunteer crewmen: Doug Schofield, Jacob Carmichael, Robert Mixon, Riardon, Dave Ratner, Aron Flavin, Colt Davis and Camilo Torre.
