Garden Walkway by Audrey Thompson
KEY WEST, THE FLORIDA KEYS — The 15-acre Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden remains open to visitors every day, 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. Due to the hardships that business closures are putting on our community, all visitors are welcome free of charge. The Garden is open to individuals and very-small-groups (fewer than 10). Consider dropping a contribution into the donations box near the Visitors Center. We are grateful!
Staff will be present with a hello and a wave, yet at a safe distance. The nursery will also be open for our monthly plant sale this Saturday, March 21 and April 18, 9 a.m.- noon. What a great time to purchase some natives for your garden and spend some time outdoors sprucing up the space where you will be spending a little extra time over the coming weeks.
We know our visitors are concerned about their health and safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. We are following the recommended safe practices and will continue to follow state, local and federal guidelines for managing our hours and our visitors. We know you will understand that our schedules can change from moment to moment. Please follow us on Facebook for updated information, as well.
The Garden’s signature March and April events, the Speaker Series, Migration Mania and Great Egg Hunt, have been canceled following recommended precautions. At this time, yoga classes will be held, but please contact the instructor for any last-minute changes. All our other events, including our children’s programs, have been canceled. But we can continue to give our community the gift of our beautiful forest and gardens in a spectacular tropical island setting.

Cat tails and pond overlook by Audrey Thompson
It is the best time ever to rediscover the healing powers of immersion in nature, from improving our moods to boosting our immune systems. The Courtyard with waterfall offers a spacious area with tables for lunches, the six game tables are available for games of chess, checkers, etc. and the Boardwalk and Forest trails are shady and cool. The turtles in our two ponds are also fond of visitors. As long as we are able, we will continue to share this perfect prescription with our guests. Our Staff will be present, with waves from a safe distance.
Visit this unique ecosystem! Be safe! Be occasionally relaxed! The Key West Botanical Garden Society, Inc. is a registered 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation. Donations are appreciated and directly benefit the Garden’s conservation program.
