Scarecrows in the Forest 2024

Get your spooky on at the 6th annual Scarecrows in the Forest Art exhibition and Contest. Around the corner, in a meadow or right in front of you, made from natural, recycled and repurposed material, scarecrows are found throughout the Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden. The exhibit runs Sept. 1-Nov. 30.

Cash prizes will be awarded and Best of Show will be chosen by Garden visitors. The annual event features locally designed scarecrows from individuals, students, creative professionals, nonprofit organizations and businesses. Prizes are awarded in three categories: school-age groups, nonprofit groups; and business and professional individuals.

Call for Artists | Deadline is Aug. 30 to register

The Garden is calling for artists, amateurs, students, businesses and professionals to create for the 66th annual Scarecrows in the Forest Art Exhibit and Contest.

• Registration is required and deadlines on Aug. 30. Installations are done by appointment through Sept. 1
• Scarecrows must be created using natural, recycled and repurposed or reused materials. Each entry is eligible for first, second or third prize, as well as Best in Show. Cash prizes will be awarded.
• Registration fees: Nonprofit, $10; school-age, $25; business and professional, $50

Call for Mentors

Art mentors are needed to work with one of three different groups of students in three workshops over three weeks to design and create three new scarecrow sculptures for display in the annual show.

• The workshops are expected to begin in August and exhibits will be installed following the workshops.
• A $250 stipend will be offered to mentor artists for their expertise and time. Art supplies are provided
