Speaker Series | Karen DiMaria

Karen DiMaria, Key West manager of urban forestry, will be the guest speaker at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17 in the Nature Chapel at the Key West Tropical Forest.

Always one of our Speaker Series’ favorite presenters, Karen provides useful, expert information on Key West’s tree canopy. This year she will review the city’s tree ordinances and share updates from the past year.

Among the questions she will address:

  • Do you need a permit to remove, transplant, or heavy trim your trees or palms?
  • What are the permitting procedures in the City of Key West?
  • Is the Tree Ordinance and permitting program helping the tree canopy?

The City of Key West Urban Forestry manager will answer these questions and discuss the 2023 permitting program and year in review to include how many permits issued, closed, and what tree species where removed and what species of trees were planted.

Admission is free for members.

Don’t forget to stop by the Native Plant Nursery for our plant sale!
