Scarecrows in the Forest | Rules
- Scarecrows should not be more than six-feet tall.
- Set up and installation is by appointment. Contact Misha McRae at 305-296-1501
- Each scarecrow will be assigned a number and location in the Garden.
- Your scarecrow should be free standing.
- A plaque will be provided that includes the name of your display, the builder / organization.
- Scarecrows should be complete or nearly so at time of installation. Garden staff will show you the location for your display but cannot help in the set up or transportation to the site.
- Please being your own equipment and tools to set up and complete your display at the Garden site. There is no electricity.
- SCARECROWS MUST BE IN GOOD TASTE: THOSE THAT REFLECT CONTROVERSIAL SOCIAL OR POLITICAL SITUATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. THE GARDEN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE DISPLAYS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE GARDEN.
- Scarecrows must withstand outside weather conditions for three months. The Garden may remove a scarecrow at any time due to its condition.
- The Garden is not responsible for any loss or damage to displays. It is your responsibility to periodically check on the condition of your scarecrow and freshen it as needed-especially after inclement weather. Your entry represents you, your organization or business and you will want it to look fresh the entire season. Please assist the Garden in helping us ensure the Scarecrows in the Forest looks great the entire season by checking on your display periodically.
- Prizes will be awarded based on the decision of a three-judge panel. BEST IN SHOW as will be decided by visitors to the Garden.
- All entries must be kept on display until Nov. 30.
- Mandatory take down time will be announced. Garden staff cannot assist in the take down and removal of your display.
- No scarecrows can be left after Dec. 5. If special arrangements are needed, please contact the Garden at 305-296-1504 prior to Dec. 1.
- THE KEY WEST TROPICAL FOREST & BOTANICAL GARDEN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO USE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE SCARECROWS FOR FUTURE PUBLICITY.
